Heavily reference
Use a digital program
Use bases
You aren't a real artist. Now that depends on your definition of "artist" but I believe anything with effort put into it is art. Originality does not exist. We have done everything when it comes to art, you expect them to be able to know what to draw with mind only? Let's say I want to draw my kitten. I would take a picture of my kitten and use it as a reference. So would that make me "not a real artist"? Next is bases.
